The Locality Network

Membership

Membership is by application, reviewed by people who know the city. Here's what it includes, what we look for and how to join.

What it includes

Everything happens inside your chapter, with members who live and work where you do.
Dinners, talks and gatherings
Members-only events with limited places. RSVP in one click, join the waitlist when it's full, and bring a guest when the event allows.
Circles
Small groups around an industry or an interest, each led by a member who hosts it.
Introductions
Ask our team to introduce you to someone. It happens only when both of you agree.
Asks and offers
Post what you need or what you can give. Members who can help reply to you privately, never in public.
A directory you control
Find members by industry, company and what they can help with. Everyone decides how much of themselves others see.
A letter every Monday
What's coming up, who has joined and what members are asking for, in one email. Turn it off whenever you like.

What we look for

After your call, our team considers five things. Nobody is decided by a score; the committee weighs the whole picture.
Standing in your field
A track record in your profession or your business.
A tie to the city
You live, work or do business here, and you'll take part here.
What you'd bring
Expertise, introductions and generosity toward other members.
Someone who knows you
A member who can speak for you helps, but you don't need one to apply.
Reputation
How you're regarded by the people you work with.

How joining works

There's no cost to apply.
  1. Create a free account

Verify your email and phone number. Your basic profile is only ever seen by logged-in members.

  2. Apply

Tell us what you do, what you're looking for and what you can offer. It takes about five minutes.

  3. Talk with our team

If your application moves forward, we call you for twenty to thirty minutes.

  4. Committee review

Our membership committee reviews every application personally.

  5. Your offer

If you're approved, you receive a private membership offer, valid for seven days.

The terms, in brief

The full terms are on our terms of membership page.
  • Your offer sets out your membership level and its price. It's private to you and open for seven days.
  • Membership renews automatically at the end of each period. We remind you before it renews.
  • You can cancel from your account at any time. Your membership runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Your membership is with one chapter: the city where you live or work.

Questions

Is there a cost to apply?

No. Applying is free. If you're approved, your private offer includes the membership price.

How long does it take?

The application takes about five minutes. After that it depends on when we can talk and when the committee next meets; we'll keep you posted by email.

Do I need to know a member?

No. A member who knows you can speak for you, which helps, but it isn't required.

Who can see my profile?

Members of your chapter see your profile after logging in, as much of it as your privacy setting allows. Publicly, members appear in their chapter's member directory with their name, title, company, state and photo only (no photo while their profile is Limited), and search engines may show that; you can turn it off at any time. Free accounts and members set to Ghost are never public.

Can I bring a guest to events?

Many events allow it. Each event shows how many guests a member may bring, and each guest receives their own pass.

Can I belong to more than one chapter?

Your membership is with one chapter: the city where you live or work.

What if I'm not accepted?

Some applicants are placed on a waitlist and hear from us if a place opens. If we can't offer you membership, you're welcome to apply again later.

Can I cancel or pause?

You can cancel from your account at any time; your membership runs to the end of the period you've paid for. Monthly memberships paid by card can also be paused for one to three months.
