Creating your account

Everyone starts with a free account. It takes a few minutes: sign up, confirm your email address, then verify your mobile number.

Signing up​

Click Create a free account (or go to Sign up) and fill in:

First name, Last nameLetters, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and periods, up to 60 characters each.
Title, CompanyUp to 120 characters each.
StateWhere you live or work.
ChapterYour city's chapter, such as New York. If only one is open, it's chosen for you.
EmailYour account is this address; one account per address.
PasswordAt least 12 characters. A short phrase is easiest to remember.

Click Create account.

A free account shows your name, title, company and state, and only to people logged in to the site. It's never public, and search engines never see it.

Confirming your email address​

We email you a link. Open it, enter the password you just chose, and click Confirm email.

  • The link works once, for 24 hours. Each new link replaces the one before.
  • No email? Check your spam folder, then click Send the link again: it's on the page you see after signing up, and on the login page if you try to log in first.

Verifying your mobile number​

Next, we verify every account by phone. Enter your Mobile number, such as (212) 555-0142, and click Text me a code. Type the code from the text message and click Verify.

  • US mobile numbers only. Toll-free numbers can't be used.
  • The code expires after 10 minutes. Send a new code sends another; Use a different number starts again.
  • Each number can belong to one account only.
  • Your number is never shown on your profile. We use it to reach you about your account and your application.

Until your number is verified, you can't apply for membership, and your account asks you to verify it.
